Using Agile to get results

CLIENT

Global consumer packaged goods company with over 15,000 employees

Situation

The company invested in the development of a special program focused on improving creation, customization and deployment of critical IT platforms to enable the business to leap frog competitors. The organization was frustrated with progress in cultural transformation and agile coaching and wanted a fresh perspective with a partner willing to jump in and create a coaching and support approach tailored to their specific context.

Objective

Launch two agile teams focused on the creation of new and critical platforms required for business success; ensure teams were delivering against the required Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

What we did

  • Developed “Agile 101” training, as well as role profiles and proficiency matrices to drive progress, inspiration and skill development

  • Accelerated transformation of the organization, drove thoughtful emphasis on self-managed teams, and delivered laser-focus on end user needs

  • Provided strategic support and program level support to continue to evolve program

  • Deployed a full time agile coach to focus on two teams and their adoption of agile techniques to manage risk and accelerate their achievement of business goals

Outcome

The two teams supported by Blue Orbit delivered their mission-critical platforms to users on time and progressed from “beginner” agile practitioners to “advanced” agile practitioners in under 1 year.
